Contrary to many ordinary beleiefs, Ketu has a crucial say on marriage and progeny. His position in the chart will tell a lot about relationships and marriage, as well as children. I was asked to clarify the position of the Ketu in 12th house. There is a lot to say about this position.
1. It is one of the worst position in a chart for a long and healthy marriage.
2. Ketu in this position will affect health and cause mistakes and wrong decisions. It can cause downfalls in profession, yet promote spiritual activities. For a spirituality it should be debilitated. It also causes accidents, unless benefic planet is placed in 4th house. It will damage younger siblings, and even kill one of them if Mars is in 9th house at the same time. It can give two marriages, unless guru or budha are in 5th house. And so on…
3. Regarding relationships it will break within 3 years, or untill the child comes. The blessing of Ganesh is necessary. If at the same time, Rahu affects Upapada or 2nd from it, the marriage is impossible or failure respectively.
4. If ketu is in Meena Rashi in 12th house, in Stri Jataka (female horoscopy), no marraige or two marriages are sure depending on other positions.
5. Vrishaba Lagna will suffer terrible calamity around the time of marriage or childbirth
6. Mituna Lagna will suffer at the hands of enemies but will have a long life, if ketu is in 12th house
7. Karka Lagna will be very spiritual, but childbirth bring problems etc
Therefore, for each lagna, ketu will give different results. THere are certain positions which will enhance Ketu’s infleunce. These are Surya in 9th house and Chandra in 3rd house. Under such layout of Planets, a person will terribly suffer in relationships. If at the same time, Shukra is in 7th house, Chandra in 10th house, and Malefics conjoin Surya in 9th house, there will be no children, inspite of remedial measures.
Furthere, a lot will depend on the position of Lagna Lord. For example if Lagna lord is placed in 2nd or 7th house, while the Ketu is in 12th house, a person will terribly suffer both mentally and physically.
Now, once we located the problem are there any positions which can block the ketu. Actually, there are certian planetary positions which will completely block the Ketu, and in such charts, you will find those people settled in happy relationships and no problems will be visible.
Actually, there are many things to be learnt from the tradition which cannot be found in standard jyotisha books. Tradition also teaches graha phalam or planetary positions for each planet in each house, which can hardly be found in any of the translated jyotisha texts. Due to the lack of time and certain positions of planets, I have never taught effects of the planets in houses, in the way I was taught by my Jyotish Guru. One among these segments is position of Ketu. When the time allows I will add other planetary positions, since there are many specific points about planets in 12th house, which cannot be found in standard jyotisha texts. For example Surya in 12th house can give extremely succesful and rich people who may top the society, however certain other conditions are required. Why would chandra in 12th house give the blessings of mother who will never live to see her widowhood, and why would such position cause demise of close friends? When will Mangal give defeat from enemies, loss of power and authority, if placed in 12th house? Under which circumstances will Rahu give a shock and tragedy in foreign land? Budha in 12th house will destroy finance and may even give a speech problems like stammering under certain combinations etc. Guru in 12th house will destroy at least one child or heavily damage its fortune, and choices and decisions will be fully futile under certain infleunces etc. Shukra in 12th house can completelly block the fortune of sisters etc. Shani in 12th house can block birth of a child and give childlessness in certain combinations. What is the real implication of Lagna Lord in 12th house, and what is the link of the 12th lord with Lagna and Karaka Lagna? How to see 8 types of bondages of karma from the 12th house? Such positions will be explained as soon as the time allows.

4. Why Ke is especially bad when LL is in 2H / 12H?

Please do not misunderstand me for telling you so. I consider you very intelligent, so I will not give you answers straight away, but I will give you a hint and guide you to understand the principles which underline these statements. Each combination I have given has a jyotish principle behind it and once you know the principle you need not memorize the positions.
1. Malefics in kendra in egzaltation will give spirituality while in dustana they give the opposite. So if malefics in debilitation in kendra give raja joga, what will they give in dustana?
2. Ketu in 12th will destroy the younger siblings. Kindly think which principle will link ketu with the house of younger siblings? Also, think why would mars in 9th house kill at least ONE younger siblings. If these two join forces, death is certain.
3. Please, think of the principle why would ketu destroy children as fruits of marriage when placed in 12th house? Why does 5th house needs strong protection?
4. The answer lies in Paka Lagna.

1. Infact I was taugth that malefics exalted in Kendra shows unconvential high ideals, its not necessarily spirituality. Malefics exalted in dusthana are giving strong enemies and debts (rather closer to moksa than bhoga m.), so spirituality/materialism i would only meausure from AL (using this concept of malefic / benefics).
2. Now regarding mangal in ninth, Ketu can give papargala (using vipareet ketu principle) and paraspara karaka, but then seventh bhava would give vipareet argala, not the ninth. Alternatively we can use ninth if you check how third bhava gives argala to Ketu, then the ninth will be obstructing.
If you use mangal graha drsti as protector from this papargala, then I think we should use rasidrsti like with AL and drekkana.
3. Ah..fruits of marriage…but why these planets? Me is fifth in varachakra for Ke, while Ju is putra-naisargika-karaka..or?
4. For 12H its easier as Ke will destroy akashtattva and direction of lagnesh (karaka-jupiter), this can give autism. For 2H it will be in eleventh (hara).. or?

What you ‘ve been taught is correct. As you know this is only one aspect which has to fit in the chart as a whole. As far as the Mangala is concerned it cannot be dristi to help in destruction of siblings. There are other principles, if you observe 3rd bhava as a lagna. What you said about varachakra is correct. Work on that principle. As per 4, you were correct:)

Thank you. I will do my best. The principle says that Karakas for bhavas not karakatvas of planets do flourish. That would mean that Chandra in 12th house will protect the 4th bhava for which it is karaka. However, this principle cannot be taken blindly, since I have seen charts with Shukra in 12th house where the spouse died even after 2 years of marriage. Shukra was alone and not involved in a curse, so to say that this protected 7th house for which Shukra is karaka would be foolish. Therefore, this principle DOES work however it should be supplemented with some other principles such as ARUDHAS. To give you a hint, If shukra is in 12th house, and Upapada and 2nd from it are not afflicted, Marriage is protected. That is the right principle. In the same line work with other houses…

About karakatva in 12th house flourishing, this is not correct. It holds true only for KARAKAS such as Chandra in 12th house will protect the 4th house. Though, it is not sufficient, since I’ve seen Shukra in 12th house unafflicted where husband died even after 2 years. Thus, the principle should be supplemented with Arudhas. I will try to do a write up on this topic where such theory from Bhavarth Ratnakam should be explained in detail. Otherwise, mere positions of planets in 12th as karakas will not always protect the houses they are karakas for. I can show the charts where Chandra in 12th house did not protect mother, nor Shukra in 12th house did not protect spouse. nor Guru in 12th house did not protect children. The shloka from Bhavarth Ratnakar is CORRECT, however, some additionional explanations are required.

Ketu is in 12th in Taurus (? debil as some might consider), Saturn+Mars in 9th forming unmaada-yoga, and moon in maran-karak sthana with lagna lord (also atmakarak) at rasi-sandhi! How is that likely to affect the mental and physical condition of the native, considering that Sun (karaka for lagna/body is also afflicted).
- Can we say that saturn being in own house will not have that bad an effect?
- Does Jupiter (aspecting 9th hs and lagna) give some saving grace or it’s parivartana with venus prevents it?
- What would be the mantra or any other remedy for it ?

Combination of Chandra and Budha is very bad, and if navamsa is correct it is the sign of bad health.Chandra ashtama is nullified by exalted Shukra which is considerable improvement factor
Shani cannot help much, though own sign indicates a great fighter
Guru cannot help as it would help if it was not retrograde

1. Ke (moksha) is one of the karakas for 12th house, like Ve (bed pleasures) and Sa (penance) – is placement of Ke / Ve / Sa in 12th subject to the dictum of karako-bhava naasaya ?
e.g. u have talked about Ve in 12th (though from angle of karaka of 7th hs), will that give more bed-pleasures or reduce them when in 12th and give more relationships or reduce them when in 7th?
2. Is it possible to say that Ke in 12th would damage karakatwas of other karakas of 12th hs – viz. bed-pleasures (Ve)?
If true, how wud it be damaging the same for Sa (penance) or is Sa here blocking bed-pleasures (karakatwa of Ve)?
3. Interesting to note that Ke in 12th can create problems in having progeny, like Sa in 12th (is it because these wud be 6th to 7th and 8th to 5th). Both these (Ke/Sa) in 5th can also affect progeny. Ju (karaka of progeny) in 12th (loss). So if Ju is in 12th and Sa/Ke in 5th or vice versa, i.e. Ju in 5th (karako-bhava naasaya) and Ke/Sa in 12th – wud it indicate a greater risk of loss in matters of progeny?

Karaka bhava nasha is a long topic, so I cannot just give it out here in a few words. Will write more on it in future.
As per shani in 12, it is based on a special sambhanda, not bhavath bhavam. Guru in 12th protects progeny, even if Rahu is in 5th house in mesha/vrischika-sarpa dosha
