Graha and bhava phala

Today many books both classical texts and modern books give effects of grahas in bhavas. Unfortunatelly, they prove useless in most cases to all readers, and worthless in practical use. Many modern authors critisize the classical authors as discarding the effects of planets in houses useless. I am not going into details here, but tradition teaches the correct method as how to use these results, and with a proper explanation from a Guru all effects will prove correct and everything will fall into a place. For example, Saravali teaches that Chandra in Lagna gives happiness (Sukha). However Shri Ram has Chandra in Lagna and he was unhappy in the middle part of the life. Why was it so? Shani was placed in 4th house in his chart which indicates dukhada or sorrow and banishment from home. That implies that Chandra in Lagna gives happiness only in childhood, while in middle age it will give happiness provided that benefic planet is placed in 4th house. In this manner, all classical texts should be examined. On the other hand, modern authors do nothing to improve it and give better description and effects of planets. So, to again, modern books either copy-paste the classical text and again give information which again prove usless and incorrect in practice. If you do not trust me, check the number of editions and books and see yourself.

Where is the clue? Tradition teaches certain effects of planets in houses, where very grounded and common-sense rules underline the principle. Once these principle are revealed, evertyhing starts beautifully to unfold and fall into a place and in practical use in horoscope, the picture starts to emerge. Let us give some effects of planets in 12th house to show the point:

1.Surya in Marana Karaka Stana in 12th house, though it gives good health. It prevents losses and punishment, makes person stay at home (will not go abroad), prevents from bad luck, bondages, and gives strong mind, emotions as a result of blessings of Shiva. General tendency is that a person will marry a powerful partner and the reson for marriage may not be as obvious as shown.

2. Chandra in 12th house is the blessing of Devi. A person is strong in body and mind, healthy, easily recovers from disease, has good sleep and rest, powerful subconscious mind and intuition, good mind reader, and prevents from serious bodily damages. Mother will bless the person, though she may be unhappy around the birthtime of a person. A person will give to family and children, yet will not care too much for friends, unless they are close as family members.

3. Mangal in 12th house- Marriage is damaged as well as marital happiness, chooses a bad partner, troubles on long journeyes, bad or slow recovery from sickness, bad sleep, subconsicous anger, physcological issues, loss of initiative and executive ability, a lot of properties which may be lost or wasted away, may be defeated by enemy, unless 6th house does not show otherwise. There are a lot of acquantances but hardly any true friends. If there are some, a person will loose them. Death of a sister or close female friend. IF a person worships Devata of Mangala, a person is blessed with sharp mind and good speech, intelligence and learning, which may prove so particularly during the dasha of Mangal. Depending on the strength of Mangala, this dasha would give litigations, bad luck due to fights, a lot of money which may be spent away, rash decisions which may invovle a person into trouble, marital disharmony and troubles with children etc. If a horoscope is well inclinced for spirituality, this dasha may give a lot of learning and blessings of powerful Guru. In this way, a completelly novel apporach is required for understanding grahas in bhavas…

Let us examine one among many principles to be used here. We all know or should know two important significations of the 5th house which we shall use as an example. These are Mantra and Chitta.

1. Mantra is the sound which can invoke certain Devata and protect the mind.

2. Chitta is the use of database of the mind

Now, we can see the impact of all 9 grahas on these two significations of the 5th house. We can do it by Guna, Nature, Tatva, karakatva etc

Surya is satva guna graha so by default all satvic Grahas will use the mantras in a positive way, and be attracted to it, while chitta will function well and mind will use the awareness in a positive and nice manner. Among these, Guru is Shabda (sound) and he is a real vachaspati or commander of Mantra. No wonder, each classical text suggests Guru placement in this house as related to blessing or worship of Lord Shiva. Chandra as chitta graha among satvic grahas will act very good for future and use the resources for excellent future planning. Shukra as a karaka of affection and mental image, can use mantra in a visual manner, and create an image of devata with a bhakti or worship towards it. However, regarding Mantra, Shukra can use all kinds of mantras being Rajas graha for selfish use. She has to learn the Mantra Shastra from Shabda Brahmin Guru, as in puranic story. So Rajas grahas need the touch of Guru to be able to understand the mantra shastra. Among Satva graha Chandra in 5th house does not have respect for Mantra Shastra, as Tara who was thinking about Chandra while her husband Guru meditated. Being illigitimate child fo such union, Budha is not conducive to Mantra, unless he is accepted and taught by Brihaspati (touch of unafflicted Guru over 5th house Budha). In this way, we cannot except the mere fact that some classical texts state that Budha in 5th house is to give knowledge of mantras. We should ad- Yes/ But Unafflicted guru has to give dristi or yuti to it. Tamas grahas are apsoulutelly bad in this house. Mangal will do sadhana only out of anger, and frustration and he does not beleive in mantras but in weapons. However, due to agni tatva, Mangal with good guidance *influcenc of Guru, can give considerable knowledge in Mantra Shastra. As far as the chitta is concerned, the mind will be led towards fighting, rashness etc. Normally, Tamas grahas cannot do anything good, since they damage chitta, cause a loss of memory (shani) or subconsious mistakes and wrong judgment (ketu and mangal) or delussions (Rahu),unless they are in own sign, multrikona sign or exaltation sign. In this case, there is a consciousness and awareness which is higher than ordinary placement, however the quality of the guna is not goint to change…
