This is the first among 10 sessions of the importance of Bhava, Bhava Lord and Karaka, as well as their mutual relationships. The example session of at least two houses with each position in a different house as well as its link with karaka was explained as a part of the 1st year curriculum of Siva Devaguru Brihaspati Course.
BHAVA , BHAVA LORD AND KARAKA
Many people do not know the difference among bhava, bhava lord and karaka. These three factors are essential to understand the nature and auspiciousness of a bhava. None of the articles I have seen has given the full and quite easy method to understand the difference between these, nor to give final opinion and result of a bhava. For example, if Lagna lord is in Kendra or kona, then our brain functions well, and we easily make good decisions. This does not necessarily mean that a person is lucky. There is an other factor called “luck “ factor known as a Karaka.
Therefore, Harihara in Prashna Marga advises:
1. Examine the house lord as counted from the house to see the resources of a house itself
2. Examine the house lord as counted from Lagna to see whether a person will experience the resources of a house.
If a bhava lord is well placed from the bhave itself, then we can well use intelligence RELATED to that bhava, our decisions are good. If a bhava lord is well placed from Lagna, then such decisions are good for us, whatever the resources of a bhava are. For example, Take Mithuna Lagna and Budha in 4th house. From the 4th bhava it is well placed as a lord, so our decisions related to home, property, place where we live are good. We will choose a nice house, at a right time and money. However, whether such a house will be good for us, make us happy and prosperous, is seen from the position of the 4th lord from Lagna. In this case , it is both, so good.
Karaka is the final authority of a bhava. We may apply our intelligence very well, yet the luck may never come.
So there are two factors:
1. Relationship of bhava and a karaka
2. Relationship of a bhava lord and karaka
If a bhava lord and karaka are in good relationship, we will make such decisions which will be supported by God, and our attitude is very good. It is the sign of a good karma related to that area of life. In opposite case it is akin to a curse. To be continued…

Dear Zoranji,
Can you please explain with an example or two what you mean by “relationship” of a bhava/bhava lord and the bhava karaka ? Are you referring to naisargika/tatkalika sambandha of planets or their house position in rasi/varga relative to each other or both or something else ?
Namaskar

Om Namah Shivaya,
Dear Diptarka,
Let us give one example. If shukra is in kendra to 7th lord an attitude towards sexuality and partner is normal. If Shukra is conjoined 7th lord the sexuality is pronounced. If shukra is in 5th or 9th house from the 7th lord too many rules or regulations may spoil the relationship, though the person’s relationship is purely based on purva punya or bhagya. However, the time factor becomes too important and a person may want a sex at one time, while the partner at another. So, by relationship, I was thinking of relationship of a house with house lord, of a house with bhava karaka, and of a house lord with a bhava karaka- mutual relationships such as kendra, kona, etc.
Best wishes
Zoran
