Nabhasa Yogas

Those who read jyotisha classics will see that every single classic invariably starts the chapter of Yogas with Nabhasa Yogas and their effects. Normally, whenever we tend to read these yogas we cannot clearly see the effects given, and tend to discard it. This is a very big mistake, and please keep in mind that neither Parashara nor other classical texts are meant for teaching people. They will just state what is important to learn, and these shlokas are meant to be studied with Guru, since various paramparas or traditions are meant to keep the knowledge and explain it to their students. Normally, Guru has to explain how to use these shlokas properly. The other problem may lie in the fact that translations may not be fully accurate, but it does not meant that you should now take the dictionary and translate the shlokas. Pt. Santhanam and Jirish Sharma and others who translated the classics, have much better knowledge of sanskrit than me and many others, so, the only way out is to be taught by Guru and tradition. Only then will things fall into the place, and shlokas will get the proper meaning. Ancient sages knew that Jyotish is not meant to be taught to a large public, so they wrote the classical texts in such ways, that only those trained by tradition will be able to get it.

So please do not discard classical texts, and your inability to understand and apply the shlokas, because there are many hidden meanings which when taught properly get perfect and fully correct results. One of these, are normally Nabhasa Yogas. If you look at Parashara you will see that there are 32 of Such Yogas, where the number has a big meaning if understood properly. The Nabhas means the sky, and these Yogas are related to the various formations on the sky, however the sky has another meaning of akasha tatva, from where the blessing of Devas is coming. So normally, these yogas were given primary importance to any other Yogas and are always studied in beginning to see whether this blessing is there or not. Since every human being is coming to this earth through the activity of Akash tatva, each horoscope has to have at least one of these Yogas, otherwise we would not be born here. My Guru used to say that without examining these Yogas first we should not make a step into analyses of any other Yoga present in the chart. There are four types of Yogas in Nabhasa Yogas:

1. Ashraya

2. Dala

3.Akriti

4. Sankhya

If you look at any chart, you will find that one of these Yogas must be present there. The presence of this Yoga will decide the link of a person to akash or the sky, and when properly applied to a chart will reveal the deep meaning of our presence in this earth…
