Remedial Measures

Nowdays, the jyotish is so spread through the internet and other resources, that an avarage person would certianly get confused by various types of remedial measures as suggested either in the books or given from other sources, or even personal advice. The choice of remedial measures is so vast and advice given from many astrologers is not often different but sometimes entirely opposite. Before venturing into a serious practice of remedial measures, particularly mantras, certain caution should be taken care of:

A person advising mantras should at least know the following:

1. Basic elements of Sanskrit alphabet, vocals, consonants, semivowels, and their link with Grahas, devatas and Tatvas. Without such knowledge one is not able to understand the link and value of other spiritual systems, nor is capable of advising remedial measures in the line of people’s personal beleives, tradition and religion

2. Division and definition of Mantras,Traditional mantra samksara should be known, with at least Akshara Samudaya

3. It is advisible to master Akahatha, Rina-dhina and various other chakras which are necessary in choice of the proper mantra. Without this knowledge, a knowledge of mantra advised is insufficient and may leave the results out.

There are various sources of learning these steps out of each the main is Mantra Mahodadhi, books and course of my Jyotish Guru Pt. Sanjay Rath. There are some other standard books in English, Sanksrit or Hindi, however, some basic knowledge to follow them is required.

Unfortunately, astrologers are seldom aware of their own responsibility and so easily spell out the mantras as advice, without accepting to take the responsibility if the results are not achieved.

And in the end, do not be afraid. Even if you practice a wrong mantra with faith it will bring desired results since God will see it through your heart. In such case, ineffective or wrong choice of a mantra goes to the karma of those who advise it.

Further it is important to know that remedial measures operate on three levels:

1. Atmic- Soul level

2. Manasic- Mental level

3. Shariric- Bodily level

It is very important to target the proper problem and solve it with an adequate tools. If you try to solve down the soul problem with a bodily remedial measures, of course the results will not come. Further, take mantras when Jupiter crosses or aspects by rashi dristi Arudha of the 5th house (mantra pada) or alternatively arudha of the 9th house (Gurupada), During such transits Bhagavan Kripa can protect you from useless or wrong mantras. Keep also in mind that only one-sixth of the mantras are of Satvic infleunce. Avoid astrologers who tell you to do mantra on strange malas, on graveyards of such obscure places, or those who give you strange rituals where unevolutionary tools are used. In such cases, kindly ask for secondary opinion. In Vedic Remedies of Pt. Sanjay Rath, the explanations of such mantras and procedures are given for the benefit of people to recognize and avoid them. And finally keep in mind that half knowledge is sometimes worse than no knowledge. In this line I am giving a friendly advise to all fellow astrologers. If you are not sure of a mantra, at least advise Prasiddha mantra which is good for all and does not require an initiation. In that case, any mistake is fully harmless. However, from my humble experience, once the proper and the most suitable mantra is chosen, the results are shockingly immidiate in comparison to any prasidha mantra…

Many people will wonder as how to find a good astrologer. It is difficult question to ask and answer. Most of the people who study this shastra consider themselves good and spiritual. My jyotish Guru used to say: ” Unless a person is good human being how can they study this shastra?” I beleive that is the first critarium. Unfortunatelly, there are those who have some decent knowledge yet fail on the test of humanity. There are also others who will state on their web sites about their abilities of prediction, and areas they can predict, even though they themselves know deep within that it is far from truth. Normally, that is the way to attract more customers for their services.  There are however, simple souls who will never put their knowledge in front your faces, and I am thankful to God for their existence. So, it is difficult to judge. The simple answer is. We should not speak about ourselves. Our deeds do so.

Before we decide on remedial measure, we should do the following:

1. Locate the problem. Good astrologers will locate the problems with a prashna kundhali, and without questioning the client, which is very important since people may be confused due to the infleunce of bad dashas running, and mislead an astrologer

2. Check whether Guru or 9th lord can protect or save. 9th lord as a malefic is not good even in exaltation for spirituality.I have heard silly explanations that exalted Rahu or Shani as 9th lord are of the quality of Guru- what a terrible ignorance! 9th lord should be at least sura graha. Protective infleunce also comes from the Navamsa-power of dharma. If such infleunces do exist, remedial measures are sure to fructify.

3. Locate grahas which have roles as Devatas, Adhi, Pratyadhi, Palana, Guru, Ishta, Dharma, as well as grahas which function from the level of Trimurti. If such graha causes the problem, it can be solved only from that level.

4. Some people state that worship of Ishtadevata will automatically solve down all problems, which is very helpful, however not completely true. For worship of Ishta Devata, the mind and intelligence should be pure enough, and certain positions in a chart clearly indicate that a person will not be able to devote themselves towards their Ishta. What happens if Ishta Devata is under the curse or placed in badhak stana. Some special texts such as Udisha tantra reveal specific mantras and advice for such positions. 

5. Some people always advice dvadakshari Mantra for Ishta Devata which is very good for Moksha, however, they often ignore the fact that a chart may belong to a person who is miles far from spirituality, and not pure enough. I was taught that an adequate knowledge of Mantra Shatra can help us combine the infleunces of various devata in one mantra, and a person may take care of both sustanance and spirituality.

There is a very important aspect of Mantra Shastra which all astrologers who advise the client should know:

1. Akathaha chakra

2. Navakari Bija mantras

3. Mantra Shunya, Mantra Bhoga and Mantra Devata

For example, some astrologers will find in Mantra Shastra mantras which include Hrim bija. Hrim Bija has a power to remove the bondage of the house.  If you apply this bija in a Mantra, then you pray to Mantra Devata to remove the bondage of the house where it will seat. If by any chance, this happens to be your Lagna or Arudha Lagna, you may advance very spiritually, but may have a premature death. Try to imagine if you use a hrim Bija and choose a Mantra which will remove the bondage of the houses related to marriage and children, while a person advised is a family man. You may destroy his future. I feel quite sad to understand that many people who dare to do chart readings are unaware of this, and freely and boldy advise the mantras without being aware of the proper impact of such mantras….
