There are different definitions of a year, which carries a big importance in understanding jyotish. A year can be solar based, lunar based and luni-solar. For spiritual results solar year based is used, where certain sankrantis are used to define the sleep and waking up of Devas, and spiritualr effects on the world. On the other hand Lunar year and certain sankrantis are used to define the effect on the individual life and destiny of a person, country etc depending on the leg of a dharma. Therefore, Shiva rules the individual life and he decides on the desinty of individual, while Vishnu rules collective dharma (Vasudeva Kutumbhakam) and decides on the destiny of Devas. These are Solar and Lunar years which have more say on the Manushya and Deva destiny. However, for individuals, luni-solar effects are important where both Sun and the Moon play a crucial role in individual life. For that reason there are two kinds of Varsha effects, one is Tithi Pravesha and another is Tajika Varshaphala chart. In our tradition Tithi Pravesha chakra plays a crucial role in deciding effects of the year, while Tajika Varshaphala is used to complement this chakra, but not as a main and independent chart itself.
Tithi Pravesha chakra occurs when the Sun remains in the same rashi where it was placed at birth (Aditya has to remain the same), while the angle of the Moon (tithi) as well as the tithi balance has to be exactly the same as it was at birth. A lot has been said about the use of this chakra, however there are still some hidden rules kept in the tradition which straightly give results and effects. Every year we can cast this chart, since there are years in human lifes, where certain events are bound to happen. There are certain years where we can have more free will and others where things which are destined to happen will happen. So far the following rules have been given about this chart.
1. Use of Varesha
2. Use of Hora Lord
3. Lagna of Tithi Pravesh
4. Ashtakavarga of tithi Pravesh
These are four among at least 20 rules which are very improtant to understand the effect of Tithi Pravesha. Thare are also modifications of these four rules which will help us pinpoint the exact picture of the year. For example the rule explained by use of Hora has not been clearly defined, since there are various definitions of Hora. Also, the rule of Varesha has to be incorporated with other rules to get the exact picture. All these rules are taught at Devaguru Brihaspati Programs and its branches. For example, the proper use of Charakarakas is of utmost importance , and it has not been dealt publicly yet. In this article I will give a few examples which will cover some important points which have been missed so far.
